So normally this blog is about Micah, but he wasn't the interesting story around here for once. So, I should start this story with the fact that I live in the middle of the city, have hardwood floors and indoor cats. Well, it looks like one of them got out today, not sure when, but I know how. Looks like we forgot to lock the back door, and it was a windy day, so the door blew open. Lucifer, not to miss any opportunity to piss me off, just probably sauntered out the door. Not realizing this, Susan shut the door when she realized it was open. So, fast forward to me sitting down for dinner with Micah and hearing a cat whining. I ignored it for a good 30 minutes thinking that some poor cat was just miserable sitting there in the rain! Finally, I decide to put the outside light on and just take a look and sure enough, there is Lucifer sitting on the back porch soaking wet.
But the story doesn't end here, and if you have a weak stomach you might not want to go on. So I sit back down to eat my dinner with Micah, and I see Lucifer down the hallway. You know when dogs get poop caught on the fur surrounding their butt and drag their butt on the carpet to get it loose? Well, I didn't know cats do this also, and I have proof. I watched Lucifer drag her butt almost the whole length of my hallway. Great. So I grab her and check and it looks like she has a worm hanging out her butt. Even better. So I do the right thing and get a napkin and pull it out, luckily realizing it is just a piece of straw (how she swallowed that whole is a topic for another discussion). And of course, I now have very polished and clean floors.
Now of course, not to be outdone, Micah basically rubbed his dinner all over himself while I was cleaning up after the cat. Yum. Time to give him a bath. Would it be wrong to put the baby and cat in together?
I love being a mother.
Overall though, it was a great day. Micah really enjoys the beach, and even loved when the very cold water of the Pacific got on his legs. I had to keep a tight hold on him or else he would make a beeline for the deeper water. He also really enjoys sand - which really perplexes me. He doesn't so much enjoy the sand on his feet, but instead seems to enjoy ingesting it. Is he a bird that needs help with his digestion? Its odd, and in fact, I even thought of tasting it myself to see if I am missing out on something - but then I came to my senses.
(Thanks to Mena for yet again taking some great pictures.)
We had NY strip steaks for dinner and Micah kept eyeing the bone. I gave it to him to enjoy, and well, you'll see for yourself.
My life has changed so much in the past year, and all for the good. While I definitely remember life before him, and I miss the nice dinners, going to movies, weekly mani/pedis and sleeping in...sleeping at all....I can't imagine my life without him.
So, everyone help me to wish my little love Happy Birthday!
